platinum teapot

platinum teapot

h 13,5cm without handle

this is a coiled and paddled teapot,
except for the rim and lid, which are wheel thrown.
the spout is made with a simple two part mold.
the wrinkled surface of the
metallic oxide saturated
dark matt glaze
makes a nice foundation
for the platinum overglaze (containing actual platinum).
the platinum has a restrained matt appearance
when paired with this particular glaze,
a combination I really like.
the teapot was fired three times,
bisque at 900°C, glaze at 1250°C and overglaze at 750°C.

a rusty iron strip was fashioned into the handle
